Marriage Prep Volunteers

Spouses are therefore the permanent reminder to the Church of what happened on the Cross; they are for one another and for the children witnesses to the salvation in which the sacrament makes them sharers.

Thank you for considering volunteering for the important task of being a Marriage Mentor Couple!  Through your efforts, couples come to know what a Catholic marriage looks like (holy, but not perfect!), and begin to develop skills and a love of Christ that will help them to achieve a life-long marriage.

What is a mentor couple?

A couple who has been married for at least 5 years who are Catholics in good standing, who attend Mass on a regular basis and who abide by the teachings of the Catholic Church. Training is provided as necessary for new couples.

What is involved?

Mentor couples meet with engaged couples 7-8 times during the course of their engagement. These sessions are scheduled according to the availability of both the mentor couple and the engaged couple. The mentor couple guides the couple through a marriage preparation program called, “Beloved.” All sessions are completed no later than 60 days prior to the wedding. Once the sessions are completed, mentor couples will complete required paperwork and submit to the parish office.

If you are interested in being a mentor couple or have any questions, please contact Tammy Silvestri at marriagepreparation@saint-max.org.
