January 2, 2024 - An Evening with Fr. Jacob DuMont!

All women of the parish are invited to begin the new year by attending an evening with Fr. Jacob DuMont, Tuesday, January 2, St. Patrick’s Conference Room, at 7PM.  Fr. DuMont, Community Superior of the Legionaries of Christ, will be speaking about evangelization in a post Christendom culture: How to connect our youth and young adults with Christ and the Gospel today.

Father Jacob DuMont was ordained a priest for the Legionaries of Christ on December 20, 2008, in Rome, Italy. Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Father Jacob entered the Legionaries’ major seminary in Cheshire, Connecticut, after high school and then continued his studies in Rome, where he obtained a master’s in philosophy and a bachelor’s in theology. In 2019, Father Jacob received a master’s in theology through Holy Apostles College. In his first five years as a priest, Father Jacob served in Chicago with youth and young adult ministries, which included helping to direct high school retreats, implementing virtue-based programs in elementary schools and high schools and assisting as a chaplain for Unidos en Cristo, a Catholic program for Spanish speaking young adults in the Archdiocese of Chicago. In 2014, Father Jacob was asked to move to New Orleans to help begin a new community for the Legionaries of Christ and to serve as the local superior for their community there. He also served as a spiritual director at Notre Dame Seminary and as a chaplain for the chapter of Young Catholic Professionals in New Orleans. In February of 2021, Father Jacob was assigned to serve as the territorial secretary for the Legionaries of Christ in the North American Territory. In July 2022, he was assigned as the local superior for the Legionaries of Christ community in Cincinnati and also took on a job with the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, serving as the director of faith development.

Father Jacob enjoys reading and playing pickleball, disc golf and euchre games with family and friends. He has led numerous pilgrimages to Spain, Italy and the Holy Land. In fact, Father Jacob made his fifth pilgrimage to the Holy Land in March 2023,  leading a group of 20 pilgrims. His first trip to the Holy Land was in December 2010 to celebrate his younger sister’s wedding in Cana of Galilee.
