Confirmation is the sacrament of Christian initiation that “confirms” our baptism, makes us more completely the image of the Lord, and fills us with the Holy Spirit. In the Sacrament of Confirmation, we are given gifts and grace to bear witness to Jesus in the world and to build up the Church, the Body of Christ, in the world.
“By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. Hence they are, as true witnesses of Christ, more strictly obliged to spread and defend the faith by word and deed.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #1285)
