About West Liberty Outreach

West Liberty Outreach (WLO)  mission: To  support the work of the Glenmary Sisters to help build up the body of Christ in rural eastern KY, which includes the original West Liberty site. We do this through works of charity and fellowship in the local community under the direction of a Glenmary Sister who lives in the area, and with the approval of the pastor of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish.   

WLO in action: A three-day mission trip less than three hours from home!  The work of WLO includes two weekend mission trips each year where we work together as a team to complete specific  home improvement projects in rural eastern KY , focused on helping families selected by our Glenmary liaison.   Thanks to the generosity of St Max parish, WLO also organizes two clothing/ toy drives each year to help support the Glenmary Outreach Center and the families they serve.

Background: Formed in 2005,  West Liberty Outreach  initially supported the Glenmary sponsored Prince of Peace Parish in West Liberty, KY.  This parish was turned over to the Diocese of Lexington in 2008.  The Glenmary Sisters have continued to operate an outreach center in the West Liberty, KY area, and our St Max WLO group now supports the eastern KY community through the Glenmary Sisters.
